Market Notes

Compared to last week, boning type slaughter cows were 1.00 to 2.00 higher; there were too few comparable breaking type slaughter cows and slaughter bulls to establish an adequate market comparison. Feeder cattle were mostly 10.00 to 13.00 higher. Demand was good; market activity and buyer interest were moderate. Offerings of cattle were mostly moderate. Cattle quality was attractive. Baby calves ranged 30.00 to 60.00 per head; "by the head" calves were 200.00 to 210.00.

Supply included: 72% Feeder Cattle (32% Steers, 43% Heifers, 24% Bulls); 16% Slaughter Cattle (94% Cows, 6% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (75% Bred Cows, 25% Cow-Calf Pairs); 1% Slaughter Sheep/Lambs (100% Hair Breeds); 8% Slaughter Goats (55% Kids, 18% Nannies/Does, 9% Bucks/Billies, 18% Wethers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 20%.
