Market Notes

Compared to last week, breaking type slaughter cows were 8.00 to 9.00 lower, boning type were 3.00 to 4.00 lower, and slaughter bulls were 4.00 to 5.00 lower. Feeder steers and bulls were mostly 1.00 to 3.00 higher, some sharply higher; feeder heifers were mostly 14.00 to 15.00 higher. Demand was good; market activity and buyer interest were active. Offerings of cattle were light. Cattle quality was attractive. Dairy baby calves were 60.00 to 80.00 per head; others ranged 185.00 to 290.00 per head.

Supply included: 71% Feeder Cattle (28% Steers, 50% Heifers, 21% Bulls); 20% Slaughter Cattle (78% Cows, 22% Bulls); 3% Replacement Cattle (40% Bred Cows, 60% Cow-Calf Pairs); 6% Slaughter Goats (30% Kids, 20% Bucks/Billies, 50% Wethers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 24%.
