Market Notes

Compared to last week, breaking type slaughter cows were 3.00 to 4.00 higher, boning type slaughter cows were 1.00 to 2.00 higher, and slaughter bulls were 5.00 to 6.00 higher. There were too few comparable feeder steers to establish an adequate market comparison; heifers were mixed, 2.00 lower to mostly 6.00 higher; and feeder bulls were mostly 2.00 to 9.00 higher. Demand, market activity, and buyer interest were moderate. Offerings of cattle were mostly moderate. Cattle quality was average.

Supply included: 75% Feeder Cattle (21% Steers, 44% Heifers, 35% Bulls); 22% Slaughter Cattle (85% Cows, 15% Bulls); 3% Replacement Cattle (75% Bred Cows, 8% Bred Heifers, 17% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 16%.
