Market Notes
Compared to last week, slaughter cattle were steady to 2.00 higher. Four-weight feeder steers and four- and five-weight feeder heifers were mostly 10.00 to 11.00 lower; six-weight feeder heifers were 1.00 to 6.00 higher; four-weight feeder bulls were 1.00 to 6.00 higher, while fiveweights were 1.00 to 3.00 lower; there were too few comparable five- and six weight feeder steers and six-weight feeder bulls to establish an adequate market comparison. Demand, market activity, and buyer interest were moderate. Offerings of cattle were mostly moderate. Cattle quality was plain to average.
Supply included: 67% Feeder Cattle (19% Steers, 52% Heifers, 29% Bulls); 25% Slaughter Cattle (86% Cows, 14% Bulls); 8% Replacement Cattle (60% Bred Cows, 5% Bred Heifers, 36% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 21%.
