Market Notes

Compared to last week, boning type slaughter cows were steady to 1.00 higher, while breaking type slaughter cows were 3.00 to 4.00 lower and slaughter bulls were 8.00 to 9.00 lower. There were too few comparable feeder steers and bulls to establish an adequate market comparison, however a higher undertone was noted; heifers were unevenly steady. Demand, market activity, and buyer interest were moderate. Offerings of cattle were moderate. Cattle quality was mostly average with some attractive, value added groups.

Supply included: 87% Feeder Cattle (31% Steers, 46% Heifers, 24% Bulls); 12% Slaughter Cattle (87% Cows, 13% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (100% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 14%.
