Market Notes

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were 3.00 to 5.00 higher, while bulls were 2.00 to 3.00 lower on a fairly light test. There were too few comparable feeder cattle to establish an adequate market comparison. Demand was light; market activity and buyer interest were slow. Offerings of cattle were very light due to inclement winter weather. Cattle quality was plain. Baby calves ranged 15.00 to 50.00 per head.

Supply included: 55% Feeder Cattle (22% Steers, 2% Dairy Steers, 44% Heifers, 28% Bulls, 4% Dairy Heifers); 39% Slaughter Cattle (90% Cows, 10% Bulls); 6% Replacement Cattle (8% Stock Cows, 92% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 33%.
