Market Notes

Compared to last week, breaking type slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were 3.00 to 4.00 lower; boning type slaughter cows were 1.00 to 2.00 lower. Feeder steers and bulls were mostly 6.00 to 8.00 lower, while heifers were unevenly steady. Demand was moderate to good at lower prices; market activity and buyer interest were moderate to active. Offerings of cattle were heavy. Cattle quality was mostly average with some attractive. "By the head" calves ranged 195.00 to 290.00 per head.

Supply included: 72% Feeder Cattle (27% Steers, 2% Dairy Steers, 50% Heifers, 20% Bulls, 1% Dairy Heifers); 21% Slaughter Cattle (89% Cows, 11% Bulls); 7% Replacement Cattle (55% Bred Cows, 45% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 11%.
