Market Notes

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were 2.00 to 3.00 higher, while slaughter bulls were 4.00 to 5.00 higher. Feeder steers were mostly steady to 5.00 higher on a light test, while heifers and feeder bulls were unevenly steady. Demand was good; market activity and buyer interest were active. Offerings of cattle were fairly heavy. Cattle quality was attractive.

Supply included: 80% Feeder Cattle (27% Steers, 1% Dairy Steers, 42% Heifers, 29% Bulls, 1% Dairy Heifers); 15% Slaughter Cattle (88% Cows, 12% Bulls); 5% Replacement Cattle (57% Bred Cows, 43% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 17%.
