Market Notes

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were 2.00 to 3.00 lower, while slaughter bulls were 2.00 to 3.00 higher. Feeder steers and bulls were mostly 2.00 to 4.00 higher; there were too few comparable heifers the previous week to establish an adequate market comparison, however, a lower undertone was noted. Demand was good; market activity and buyer interest were active. Offerings of cattle were very heavy. Cattle quality was attractive.

Supply included: 83% Feeder Cattle (29% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 47% Heifers, 24% Bulls); 14% Slaughter Cattle (86% Cows, 14% Bulls); 4% Replacement Cattle (5% Stock Cows, 67% Bred Cows, 29% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 15%.
