Market Notes
Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to 1.00 lower and slaughter bulls were 2.00 to 3.00 lower. Four-weight feeder steers were sharply higher, there were too few comparable five- and six-weights available to establish an adequate market comparison; feeder heifers were unevenly steady; and feeder bulls were mostly 5.00 to 6.00 lower. Demand was mostly moderate, good for fancy and value added cattle; market activity and buyer interest were fairly active. Offerings of cattle were moderate. Cattle quality was average with some attractive.
Supply included: 69% Feeder Cattle (31% Steers, 1% Dairy Steers, 44% Heifers, 24% Bulls); 19% Slaughter Cattle (92% Cows, 8% Bulls); 0% Replacement Cattle (100% Cow-Calf Pairs); 2% Slaughter Sheep/Lambs (27% Hair Breeds, 18% Ewes, 55% Bucks); 11% Slaughter Goats (56% Kids, 13% Nannies/Does, 27% Bucks/Billies, 5% Wethers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 15%.
