Market Notes

Compared to two weeks ago, boning type slaughter cows were steady to 1.00 higher and slaughter bulls were 2.00 to 3.00 higher; there were too few comparable breaking type slaughter cows to establish an adequate market comparison. Feeder steers were mostly 2.00 to 4.00 lower some 9.00 to 10.00 lower; feeder heifers were mostly 16.00 to 17.00 lower; and feeder bulls were mostly 12.00 to 13.00 lower. Demand, market activity, and buyer interest were moderate. Offerings of cattle were fairly light. Cattle quality was plain to average. Baby calves (20 head) ranged 15.00 to 55.00 per head.

Supply included: 56% Feeder Cattle (32% Steers, 46% Heifers, 23% Bulls); 21% Slaughter Cattle (87% Cows, 13% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (100% Cow-Calf Pairs); 14% Slaughter Sheep/Lambs (2% Shorn, 85% Hair Breeds, 8% Ewes, 5% Bucks); 9% Slaughter Goats (65% Kids, 10% Nannies/Does, 23% Bucks/Billies, 3% Wethers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 11%.
