Market Notes

Compared to last week: steer calves 550 to 650 lbs mostly steady, 651 to 800 lbs 2.00 to 4.00 lower. Heifers calves 450 to 700 lbs 4.00 to 8.00 lower. Too few yearlings these last two weeks for an accurate trend. Another large calf offering this week featuring many loads and packages of home raised calves. Moderate to good demand for calves carrying some flesh, good to very good demand for greener calves, especially black hides which could fit grass programs. Like last week, flesh varied, from light to some heavy. More colored cattle in the offering today, quality similar to last week, from plain to attractive. Moderate to active market activity today. More storms and snow to the south in Nebraska, this winter seems to have been one snowstorm after another in some parts, somewhat limiting where cattle can be sent at times. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, January 25.

Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (62% Steers, 38% Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 69%. AUCTION This Week Last Reported 1/11/2023 Last Year Total Receipts: 5,622 5,698 6,866 Feeder Cattle: 5,622(100.0%) 5,698(100.0%) 6,866(100.0%)
