Market Notes
Compared to last week: best test on steer calves 500 to 600 lbs 4.00 to 6.00 higher, 601 to 650 lbs steady, yearling steers not well compared. Best test on heifer calves 450 to 600 lbs 2.00 to 6.00 higher with instances up to 10.00 higher on 550 to 600 lbs, best test on yearling heifers 900 to 950 lbs 3.00 to 4.00 higher. Good to very good demand for both yearlings and calves today. Yearlings sold mostly in loads and strings today with flesh ranging from moderate to heavy. Quality varied, from plain to attractive. Many, many packages and quite a few loads in today's calf offering. A few more weaned packages this week, from 25 days and up, but the majority of the calves off the cow again this week. Flesh varied, from moderate to some heavy flesh at times. Similar preconditioning as last week, with most calves having at least one round of fall shots. An active market with more buyers and farmer feeders at the sale today. The weather has turned cold and the precip last week has left an ice covering over much of the area. Yards and side roads remain slippery and some areas are having issues with power outages. At least there is no more dust-haha. No feeder cattle next week due to Thanksgiving, next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, November 30. Happy Thanksgiving!
Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (55% Steers, 45% Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 53%. AUCTION This Week Last Reported 11/9/2022 Last Year Total Receipts: 5,199 4,040 6,992 Feeder Cattle: 5,199(100.0%) 4,040(100.0%) 6,992(100.0%)
