Market Notes

Compared to last week: best test on yearling steers 850 to 900 lbs and 950 to 1000 lbs 2.00 to 4.00 lower, 1001 to 1050 lbs steady. Best test on yearling heifers 800 to 850 lbs mostly steady. Good demand for another large offering of yearlings. Lots of strings and loads again this week but also quite a few packages. Overall quality less attractive than last week with more plain cattle in the offering, especially on packages. Flesh similar to last week with most of the yearlings coming off grass. About 1500 head of attractive quality spring calves today which were met with good demand. Varied preconditioning on the calves but most had at least one good round of fall shots. An active market with both order buyers and farmer feeders as well as several producers interested in replacement heifers in the seats today. Many farmers are busy with harvest, beans are mostly done and corn well underway. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, October 19.

Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (52% Steers, 48% Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 77%. AUCTION This Week Last Reported 10/5/2022 Last Year Total Receipts: 3,991 3,770 3,743 Feeder Cattle: 3,991(100.0%) 3,770(100.0%) 3,743(100.0%)
