Compared to last week: Combined weighted average report for 3 Colorado auction markets included: Winter Livestock, La Junta Livestock, and Livestock Exchange. Trade activity and demand moderate to good. Feeder steers and heifers too thinly tested to trend, but lower undertones noted. Feeder dairy heifers 900 to 1200 lbs sold mostly 1.00 higher. Average dressing slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 lower while bulls sold 1.00 higher. More bred cows and cow calf pairs were brought to market this week as cattleman cull their herds due to drought. Nearby weather conditions will dictate whether or not more cows are brought to market.

Supply included: 67% Feeder Cattle (41% Steers, 49% Heifers, 4% Bulls, 6% Dairy Heifers); 28% Slaughter Cattle (82% Cows, 18% Bulls); 4% Replacement Cattle (31% Stock Cows, 18% Bred Cows, 50% Cow-Calf Pairs, 1% Heifer Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 58%.
