Compared to last week: Combined weighted average report for 5 Colorado auction markets included: Centennial Livestock, Winter Livestock, La Junta Livestock, Sterling Livestock and Livestock Exchange. Trade activity and demand were moderate to good. The fall run is in full swing, coming later than expected with the current drought condition. Offerings almost doubled from last week. Feeder steers 450-850 lbs sold mostly 2.00 lower and trade mixed on steers over 850 lbs. Feeder heifers under 450 lbs sold mostly sharply higher, 450-850 lbs sold mostly steady to 4.00 lower and heifers over 850 lbs were 3.00 to 5.00 higher. Feeder dairy heifers over 950 lbs sold 3.00 to 6.00 lower. Average dressing slaughter cows were 1.00 to 3.00 lower, bulls 5.00 lower. The next available report will be Monday, October 17, 2022.
Supply included: 87% Feeder Cattle (45% Steers, 14% Dairy Steers, 33% Heifers, 0% Bulls, 7% Dairy Heifers); 13% Slaughter Cattle (0% Heifers, 90% Cows, 9% Bulls, 1% Dairy Heifers); 0% Replacement Cattle (24% Stock Cows, 76% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 44%.
