Compared to last week: Combined weighted average report for 2 Colorado auction markets included: Sterling Livestock and Livestock Exchange. Trade activity and demand were moderate to good. Feeder steers and heifers too thinly traded to trend. 950-1200 lb feeder dairy heifers sold mostly 2.00 to 4.00 higher on a light test. Average dressing slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly 1.00 to 2.00 higher with instances of 4.00 to 5.00 higher. Offerings of stock cows, bred cows and cow/calf pairs were light this week. Auction markets are looking to transition out of their summer schedules in early September. The next available report will be Monday, August 22, 2022.Supply included: 48% Feeder Cattle (37% Steers, 1% Dairy Steers, 42% Heifers, 4% Bulls, 16% Dairy Heifers); 49% Slaughter Cattle (1% Heifers, 95% Cows, 4% Bulls, 0% Dairy Heifers); 3% Replacement Cattle (68% Stock Cows, 30% Bred Cows, 3% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 60%.
