Compared to last week: Combined weighted average report for 4 Colorado auction markets included: Winter Livestock, La Junta Livestock, Sterling Livestock, and Livestock Exchange. Trade activity and demand were moderate to good. Feeder steers under 650 lbs sold mostly 4.00 to 8.00 lower, and over 650 lbs sold steady to 4.00 higher. Feeder heifers under 600 lbs sold mostly 6.00 to 8.00 with instances of sharply lower, and heifers over 600 lbs sold mostly 2.00 to 6.00 higher. Dairy feeder heifers over 850 lbs sold mostly steady to 2.00 lower on a light test. Average dressing slaughter cows sold 1.00 to 3.00 higher with average dressing slaughter bulls selling steady. The bulk of feeder cattle offerings this week weighed between 500 and 850 lbs. The next available report will be Monday, March 28, 2022.
Supply included: 77% Feeder Cattle (55% Steers, 41% Heifers, 1% Bulls, 2% Dairy Heifers); 17% Slaughter Cattle (90% Cows, 10% Bulls); 6% Replacement Cattle (16% Stock Cows, 37% Bred Cows, 40% Bred Heifers, 7% Cow-Calf Pairs, 0% Heifer Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 55%.
