Compared to last week: Combined weighted average report for 5 Colorado auction markets included: Sterling Livestock, Centennial Livestock, Winter Livestock, La Junta Livestock, and Livestock Exchange. Trade active on moderate to good demand. The week was filled with Stock Show Specials. Feeder steers under 500 lbs sold mostly 10.00 to 17.00 higher, 500-650 lbs 2.00 to 5.00 higher, and over 650 lbs mostly 1.00 to 2.00 lower with instances of 4.00 to 5.00 lower. Feeder heifers under 450 lbs sold 1.00 to 2.00 higher with instances of 8.00 higher, 450-550 lbs sold uneven, and over 550 lbs uneven at 2.00 lower to 3.00 higher. Average dressing slaughter cows and bulls sold unevenly steady from 1.00 lower to 2.00 higher. The next available report will be Monday, January 24, 2022.
Supply included: 88% Feeder Cattle (56% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 43% Heifers, 0% Bulls, 1% Dairy Heifers); 7% Slaughter Cattle (95% Cows, 5% Bulls); 5% Replacement Cattle (2% Stock Cows, 70% Bred Cows, 22% Bred Heifers, 5% Cow-Calf Pairs, 1% Heifer Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 63%.
