Market Notes

Compared to last week, feeder steers traded mostly uneven with lower undertones noted. Feeder heifers under 600 lbs were 2.00 to 6.00 lower, heifers over 600 lbs were not well tested. There were several offerings of unweaned and fleshy type cattle that buyers had little intersest in that pushed trends lower. Supply was good and demand was good on weaned cattle but poor on unweaned new crop cattle. Slaughter cows and bulls were both mostly steady.

Supply included: 88% Feeder Cattle (26% Steers, 34% Heifers, 40% Bulls); 9% Slaughter Cattle (66% Cows, 34% Bulls); 3% Replacement Cattle (30% Stock Cows, 56% Bred Cows, 15% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 26%.
