Market Notes

Compared to last week steers over 550 lbs sold 3.00 to 5.00 lower. Most lots of heifers sold 2.00 to 6.00 lower except 450 to 500 lbs sold 10.00 higher. Demand was good for grass type cattle, especially thin fleshed ones. Moderate demand for feeder cattle. Sloppy, wet, muddy pens around the trade have damped the mood on procuring feeder cattle on Monday. Another winter storm is in the forecast this week and some feedlots backed there bids off to order buyers. Offering comprised of longtime weaned steers and heifers, fully vaccinated. Some cattle coming out of muddy weaning pens as they displayed some tag (mud) on their hide. January 23 expecting 2000-2500 head.

Supply included: 94% Feeder Cattle (55% Steers, 45% Heifers); 6% Slaughter Cattle (100% Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 78%.
