Market Notes

Compared to last week slaughter steers were 1.00 lower with slaughter heifers 2.00 lower but still good value on higher quality steers and heifers. Holstein slaughter steers were 5.00 higher today. Cows were 1.00 to 7.00 higher and bulls sharply higher with higher value on higher dressing cows and bulls with active buyer participation. A light offering of feeder calves today but they were trending higher with value added feeders.

Supply included: 10% Feeder Cattle (11% Steers, 58% Heifers, 32% Bulls); 90% Slaughter Cattle (45% Steers, 5% Dairy Steers, 15% Heifers, 26% Cows, 7% Bulls, 2% Bullocks). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 15%.
