Market Notes

Compared to last week steers under 700 lbs sold 6.00 to 10.00 lower, 700-800 lbs sold steady and over 800 lbs sold 8.00 lower on a light test. Heifers sold 10.00 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 2.00 higher. Demand was moderate to good for calves, feeder cattle and slaughter cattle with moderate demand for bred cows. Issues in the world showed up and put pressure on the livestock sectors as wheat futures soared upward along with other grains. Seasonally temperatures across the state with some snow reported. Snow is ok, as most of the state needs it for it’s for annual irrigations needs.

Supply included: 82% Feeder Cattle (36% Steers, 64% Heifers); 11% Slaughter Cattle (89% Cows, 11% Bulls); 7% Replacement Cattle (45% Stock Cows, 55% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 52%.
