Total Run: 4,628

Market Notes

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves sold unevenly steady on a light test. Yearling steers sold 4.00 higher and yearling heifers sold 4.00 to 6.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 higher and bulls 4.00 higher. Quite a few cows went back to the county for feeding purposes. Some young open cows are going back for rebreeding or recipient cows. Demand was good at all reporting auctions for all classes of livestock. Slaughter cattle receipts continue to run a little higher than last year. Along with replacement cows as ranchers are making the tough decision on cutting some or all their herd due to the drought and very high hay prices.

Supply included: 68% Feeder Cattle (50% Steers, 50% Heifers); 20% Slaughter Cattle (92% Cows, 8% Bulls); 12% Replacement Cattle (46% Stock Cows, 48% Bred Cows, 6% Bred Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 82%.
