Market Notes

Compared to last week steers sold steady and most weights of heifers sold 5.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 higher and bulls sold 4.00 higher. Stock cows or feeding cows sold 2.00 higher. Bred cows and pairs sold mostly steady. Demand was moderate to good. Even though some areas of Wyoming has received rain in the last few weeks many ranchers continue to liquidate bred cows and pairs. Roughly twice and many slaughter and replacement cattle sold this week compared to same week last year. If substantial rain doesn't come along in a large area pairs will continue to come to town and yearling cattle may be sold earlier than normal.

Supply included: 23% Feeder Cattle (19% Steers, 68% Heifers, 13% Bulls); 35% Slaughter Cattle (90% Cows, 10% Bulls); 41% Replacement Cattle (46% Stock Cows, 3% Bred Cows, 0% Bred Heifers, 46% Cow-Calf Pairs, 5% Heifer Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 81%.
