Wyoming Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

Archived Report

Total Run: 3,819

Market Notes

Compared to last week steers and heifers sold unevenly steady. Slaughter cows sold 2.00 to 5.00 higher and slaughter bulls 2.00 higher. Not enough bred cows or pairs for an adequate market comparison. Demand was moderate to good at both reporting auctions. Few, more open cows and heiferettes made their way to the auction this week with several of the young cows going back to the county to try motherhood one more time. Even though summer grass could me limited this summer, cattlemen continue to procure lots for summer turn out. If the green grass holds out cost of gains will be cheaper than in the feedlot where roughage is tight, and corn has jumped up. June corn closed the week $0.587 higher at $6.325.

Supply included: 72% Feeder Cattle (28% Steers, 72% Heifers); 17% Slaughter Cattle (90% Cows, 10% Bulls); 11% Replacement Cattle (92% Stock Cows, 7% Bred Cows, 1% Bred Heifers, 0% Cow-Calf Pairs, 1% Heifer Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 59%.
