Market Notes
Compared to last week: Feeder steers traded mostly steady to 1.00 lower. Feeder heifers were too lightly tested for a market trend. Steer calves traded steady to 2.00 lower. Heifer calves traded mostly 2.00 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls traded steady to 3.00 higher. Trading activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand. The majority of the supply consisted of calves straight off the cow. The weather is forecasted to cool down with a chance of moisture Sunday into Monday, as a result large discounts for calves fresh off the cow or lacking full vaccinations were once again noted.
Supply included: 67% Feeder Cattle (59% Steers, 40% Heifers, 0% Bulls); 33% Slaughter Cattle (96% Cows, 4% Bulls); 0% Replacement Cattle (100% Bred Cows). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 35%.
