Market Notes
Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady on limited comparable sales. Steer and heifer calves traded unevenly steady. Slaughter cows and bulls traded 1.00 to 2.00 lower. Trading activity was moderate to active on moderate to good buyer demand. The majority of the supply consisted of lighter weight calves. With temperatures reaching the upper 80's to 90's during the day and dropping to the 50's and 60's over night some notable discounts were applied to calves that were either short weaned or not weaned.
Supply included: 72% Feeder Cattle (51% Steers, 1% Dairy Steers, 47% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 28% Slaughter Cattle (99% Cows, 1% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 54%.
