Market Notes
Compared to last week: All classes of steers and heifers traded mostly weak to 4.00 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls traded mostly steady to 2.00 higher. Quality was mostly plain to attractive with several nice loads of yearlings on offers. Buyers seemed to be a little more hesitant today on the lighter weight calves as the majority of the calf supply was not weaned or short weaned, and were moving from high temperatures this week into a cool off over the weekend. Trading activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand.
Supply included: 75% Feeder Cattle (69% Steers, 29% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 25% Slaughter Cattle (100% Cows, 0% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 65%.
