Weighted Average Report for Wednesday 3/23/2016

Cattle Receipts: 807   Last week: 1388   Last year: 1083

Compared to last week: Feeder steer and heifer calves sold unevenly steady. 
Yearling steers and heifers sold 3.00 to 4.00 lower. Sharply lower CME cattle 
futures this week depressed the overall yearling market. Lighter weight thin 
fleshed calves still in very good demand for grass. New crop fleshy calves were 
discounted accordingly.  Slaughter cows and bulls sold fully steady.
 
 7 replacement cattle, 40 slaughter cattle, and 760 feeder cattle.
Slaughter cows made up 3.0 percent of offering, slaughter bulls 1 percent, 
replacement cows .4 percent and feeders 95.0 percent. The feeder supply 
included 60 percent steers and bulls, and 40 percent heifers. Near 43 percent of 
run weighed over 600 lbs.
