Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 01/31/2019
 
Receipts:  1953    Last Week:  3889    Year Ago:  4997  
 
   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers and heifers steady to 2.00 higher, 
except 750-800 lbs steers 2.00 to 3.00 higher and 650-750 lbs heifers 2.00 to 
4.00 higher.  Good demand for this lighter offering of feeder cattle.  Receipts 
reduced due to cold winter weather with overnight lows 20 to 30 below zero.  
Flesh condition light to moderate plus, hide condition varied from clean to 
carrying heavy tag.  The market was active today as cattle feeders were ready to 
buy cattle again.  Most auctions earlier in the week in the trade area were 
canceled or postponed due to the Polar Vortex.  59 percent were steers; 41 
percent heifers. 92 percent weighing over 600 lbs.  Expecting 6500 feeder cattle 
next week, starting at 8:30.
