Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 02/15/2018

   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers over 650 lbs and all weights of
feeder heifers steady to 4.00 higher, except instances of 8.00 to 10.00 higher
on steers 650-700 lbs.  Steers under 650 lbs too lightly tested last week for
comparion.  Very good demand throughout the sale for all weights and classes.
This week featured Hereford influenced steers and heifers, many straight breds.
A good portion of the straight bred heifers returned to the country as
replacements.  Whatever the hide color, cattle were easy to sell this week.
Another day of gains in the cattle futures contracts helped to push the feeder
cattle market higher.  Long strings of cattle were the norm for much of the
sale, many  offered as full load lots.  Flesh conditions ran the whole spectrum,
from very attractive light fleshed to heavy fleshed.  No matter the condition,
or hide color, there were ample buyers eagerly bidding and pushing the market
higher.  65 percent were steers; 35 percent heifers.  92 percent weighing over
600 lbs.  Next week expecting 6,000 feeder cattle.
