Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 01/11/2018

   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers 8.00 to 12.00 lower, instances of
13.00 to 15.00 lower.  Feeder heifers under 800 lbs 7.00 to 12.00 lower,
instances to 15.00 lower, over 800 lbs 2.00 to 5.00 lower.  Demand mostly
moderate, good however for those light enough to background and for those
big cattle that will finish before summer.  Few cattle offered unweaned,
those are marked as ?calves?.  With the retreat of the CME futures contracts
and a lower fed cattle market again this week the feeder cattle market
was under pressure.  Oct Live Cattle is now back below 110.00 and Aug only at
108.30, cattle feeders needed to buy feeders cheaper and that?s what they did.
Flesh condition moderate to moderate plus, few consignments in light flesh as
most cattle are being fed a backgrounding ration.  Cattle starting to carry some
tag as the warm-up earlier in the week made for wet ground conditions.  58
percent were steers; 42 percent heifers.  88 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
Next week expecting 7,000 feeder cattle, starting at 8:00 am.
