Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 04/27/2017

   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers under 750 lbs had few comparable
sales with stronger undertones noted, over 750 lbs mostly steady to 3.00
higher with instances seen of 5.00 to 6.00 higher for 800-900 lbs.  Feeder
heifers under 750 lbs were lightly tested last week with stronger undertones
evident, 750-900 lbs steady to 5.00 higher, 900-950 lbs 8.00 to 10.00 higher
in a narrow comparison.   Demand good to very good today, as the large offerings
of mostly backgrounded cattle attracted many buyers today.  CME Feeder Cattle
futures April contract up 1.00 at 140.85, while the deferred contracts through
November closed limit higher.  Live Cattle futures April up 3.58 at 135.60,
with June through February 2018 contracts closing up the limit.  Flesh condition
continues to be mostly moderate with moderate plus fleshed cattle seen at times.
Cash fed cattle traded higher today with 138.00-140.00 reported in CO and NE,
dressed basis 217.00-219.00 in NE.  Feeder cattle were 62 percent steers, 
38 percent heifers; 96 percent weighing over 600 lbs.  Sale next Thursday
May 4th, with 3,000 head of feeder cattle expected.
