Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 01/28/2016

   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers under 850 lbs steady to 3.00
higher, instances 5.00-8.00 higher on 650-700 lbs, 850-950 lbs mostly
steady, over 950 not well tested last week for comparison.  Feeder
heifers mostly steady.  Quality was uneven this week as offerings ranged
from high quality, long-sided, eye appealing cattle, to consignments of much
shorter, square bodied cattle.  Flesh was heavier as well, yet there were some
light fleshed cattle offered, which were very easy to sell today, many in
moderate plus to heavy flesh.  Demand moderate to good, much lighter though for
over-conditioned cattle.  Quite a few replacement quality heifers were met by
good demand.  Next week expecting 4,000-4,500 feeder cattle.  92 percent over
600 lbs.  59 percent steers; 41 percent heifers.
