   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers, both calves and yearlings, 5.00
to 10.00 lower, except 700-850 lbs 3.00 to 5.00 lower.  Feeder heifers
under 650 lbs 10.00 to 15.00 lower, over 650 lbs 2.00 to 5.00 lower instances
to 8.00 lower on 800-850 lbs.  Demand moderate to good at times for this
very large offering of calves and yearlings.  Many full loads of yearlings,
many calf consignments with some larger strings in the offering.  Overall
quality was very attractive as the calves were in light to moderate flesh,
yearlings were in a light flesh condition as well.  Pens and yards are very
sloppy due to the warm weather as the ground has thawed and snow has melted,
the effects of this very evident on cattle as clean cattle were not the norm.
Near all the calves were fully preconditioned, a good majority were weaned but
weaning status didn?t affect the market much, especially if the cattle were
clean, as the flesh condition was attractive for buyers.  Weighing condition
was in the buyers favor as cattle were pretty empty.  With cattle futures
posting a positive gain finally, 1.00 and 2.00, the market was pretty active
as buyers chased the bids.  Next week expecting 3,000 feeder cattle.  73 percent
over 600 lbs.  61 percent steers; 39 percent heifers.
