Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 10/15/2015
 
Receipts:  2345    Last Week:  1457    Year Ago:  1806
 
   Compared to last week:   Steer and heifer calves 5.00 to
10.00 higher. Yearling steers had no comparable sales due to 
a light test last week.  Yearling heifers best test 850-900 lbs
5.00 to 10.00 higher, 900-950 lbs 2.00 higher, other weights not
well compared.  Holstein steers sold steady to 5.00 higher.  Good
to very good demand seen for yearling cattle both off grass and out
of backgrounding lots, good demand for calves. Calves were in mostly
moderate flesh, yearling cattle in mostly light to moderate flesh
condition.  Majority of the calves offered today were preconditioned
and off the cow.  Harvest is going in full swing, with light buyer
attendence.  Near 300 head of Holstein steers sold today.  Feeder
cattle offering was 41 percent steers, 59 percent heifers; 90 percent
weighing over 600 lbs.  Sale next Thursday October 22, expecting 2000 head.
