Weighted Average Auction Report of Canton, Siler City, North Wilkesboro,
Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday, July 11, 2019. Turnersburg received
approximately 912 cattle; Shelby had 595 cattle; and Norwood approximately 763
cattle, however, prices are not available due to absence of the reporter.
Cattle Receipts: 1169 Last week: 818 Last year: 4061
Compared to two weeks ago, slaughter cattle were mostly steady to 1.00 lower.
Feeder steers were mostly 4.00 to 6.00 lower; while heifers mostly steady to
4.00 higher; and bulls mostly steady to 7.00 higher. Demand was mostly
moderate; market activity and buyer interest were mostly moderate. Offerings
of cattle were fairly light, overall. Cattle quality was plain to average.
Slaughter cows made up 21 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 4 percent,
replacement cows 2 percent, and feeders 73 percent. The feeder supply included
36 percent steers, 38 percent heifers, and 25 percent bulls. Near 21 percent
of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
