Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Canton, Turnersburg, Mount Airy, 
and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday, October 25, 2018.  Cattle receipts 
for Shelby on Tuesday, October 23, totaled approximately 540 head; Norwood?s 
receipts on Wednesday, October 24, were approximately 912 head; however, prices 
were not available due to absence of the reporters.  Receipts and prices for 
North Wilkesboro on Wednesday, October 24, were not available due to absence of 
the reporter.

Cattle Receipts:  4316          Last week:  3876          Last year:  4803

Compared to last week, slaughter cattle were mostly steady to 2.00 lower.  
Feeder steers were mostly steady to 4.00 lower; heifers were unevenly steady; 
while bulls were sharply lower.  Demand, market activity, and buyer interest 
were mostly moderate.  Offerings of cattle were mostly moderate.  Cattle 
quality was mostly plain to average.

Slaughter cows made up 14 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent, 
replacement cows 1 percent, other cows 0 percent, and feeders 83 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 33 percent steers, 37 percent heifers, and 30 percent 
bulls.  Near 16 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
