Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Canton, Turnersburg, Mount Airy, 
Shelby, North Wilkesboro, Norwood, and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday, 
August 09, 2018

Cattle Receipts:  3506          Last week:  4437          Last year:  4366

Compared to last week, slaughter cattle were mostly steady to 1.00 higher; 
while feeder cattle were mostly steady to 3.00 higher.  Demand was mostly 
moderate; market activity and buyer interest were moderate.  Offerings of 
cattle were light to moderate.  Cattle quality was plain to average.

Slaughter cows made up 17 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 3 percent, 
replacement cows 1 percent, other cows 0 percent, and feeders 78 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 32 percent steers, 43 percent heifers, and 24 percent 
bulls.  Near 20 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
