Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Canton, Turnersburg, Mt. Airy, 
Shelby, North Wilkesboro, Norwood, and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday 
Feb 22, 2018

Cattle Receipts:  4961     Last Week:  3611     Last Year:  4643

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were unevenly steady, 1.00 lower to 1.50 
higher; while bulls were mostly steady 5.00 higher.  Feeder steers were 
steady to 6.00 higher; bulls were steady 7.00 higher; and heifers were mostly 
steady to 4.00 higher.  Demand was moderate to good; market activity and buyer 
interest were mostly moderate.  Offerings of cattle were moderate.  Cattle 
quality was plain to average.

Slaughter cows made up 15 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent, 
replacement cows 2 percent, other cows 1 percent, and feeders 80 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 33 percent steers, 42 percent heifers, and 25 percent 
bulls. Near 19 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
