Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Canton, Turnersburg, Mount Airy, 
Shelby, Norwood, and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday, October 12, 2017

Cattle Receipts:  4808          Last week:  5306          Last year:  2436

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were mostly steady to 3.00 higher and 
bulls were steady to 4.00 higher.  Feeder steers were mostly steady to 4.00 
higher; bulls were mostly 2.00 to 5.00 higher; and heifers were mostly 3.00 
higher.  Demand, market activity, and buyer interest were mostly moderate.  
Offerings of cattle were mostly moderate.  Cattle quality was mostly average.

Slaughter cows made up 13 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent, 
replacement cows 3 percent, other cows 1 percent, and feeders 82 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 31 percent steers, 40 percent heifers, and 29 percent 
bulls.  Near 21 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
