Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Canton, Turnersburg, 
North Wilkesboro, Norwood, Shelby, and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday, 
July 21, 2016

Cattle Receipts:  3925          Last week:  4291          Last Year:  3874

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were mostly steady to 5.00 higher; while 
slaughter bulls were mostly steady to 2.00 lower.  Feeder steers were mostly 
1.00 to 5.00 lower; bulls and heifers were mostly 1.00 to 6.00 lower.  Demand 
was mostly light; market activity and buyer interest were mostly slow.  
Offerings of cattle were mostly moderate.  Cattle quality was mostly plain to 
average.

Slaughter cows made up 17 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 2 percent, 
replacement cows 3 percent, other cows 1 percent, and feeders 77 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 28 percent steers, 40 percent heifers, and 32 percent 
bulls.  Near 21 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
