Weighted Average Auction report of Canton, North Wilkesboro, Norwood, Siler City,
Smithfield and Turnersburg for the Week Ending Thursday Apr 23, 2015
Cattle Receipts: 3379 Last week: 5332 Last Year: 5178
Compared to last week, feeder cattle were mostly steady to 6.00 lower. Slaughter
cattle were steady to 3.00 higher. Demand and market activity was moderate. Offerings
were light due to wet conditions in the western area of the state. Quality was
average. Slaughter cows made up 17 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 3
percent, replacement cows 3 percent, other cows 2 percent, and feeders 76 percent.
The feeder supply included 38 percent steers, 36 percent heifers, and 26 percent
bulls. Near 17 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
