Weighted Average Auction Report of Siler City, Canton, Turnersburg, Mount Airy, 
North Wilkesboro, Norwood, and Smithfield for the Week Ending Thursday, 
August 28, 2014

Cattle Receipts:  4923          Last week:  4893          Last Year:  4755

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were mostly steady and bulls were steady 
to 5.00 lower.  Feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady to 10.00 lower; 
feeder bulls were 6.00 to 10.00 lower.  Demand, offerings, and buyer activity 
were moderate.  Cattle were mostly average quality.

Slaughter cows made up 15 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 3 percent, 
replacement cows 2 percent, other cows 2 percent, and feeders 79 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 35 percent steers, 41 percent heifers, and 24 percent 
bulls.  Near 15 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
