Weighted Average Auction Report of Mount Airy, North Wilkesboro, Norwood, Siler City, 
Smithfield, Turnersburg for the Week Ending Thursday May 29, 2014

Cattle Receipts:  3792          Last Week:  5013          Last Year:  3094

Compared to last week, slaughter cattle trended mostly steady.  Feeder cattle were mostly 
steady to 6.oo higher.  Demand was good, market activity and buyer interests were moderate 
to active.  The offering of cattle was light to moderate.  Cattle quality was mostly 
average. Many producers were busy cutting hay and planting other crops.

Slaughter cows made up 19 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 3 percent, replacement 
cows 1 percent, other cows 1 percent, and feeders 76 percent.  The feeder supply included 
29 percent steers, 44 percent heifers, and 27 percent bulls. Near 14 percent of the run 
weighed over 600 lbs.
