Sheep and Goat Weighted Average for Monday, August 18, 2014

Sheep/Lamb Receipts: 1427   Last Monday: 1679   Year Ago: 1649  
Goat Receipts:       1305   Last Monday: 1206   Year Ago: 1757

subjected to USDA carcass grading, and marketed through mainstream outlets. 
Non-Traditional markets refer to lambs destined for slaughter outside of
what would be termed as traditional markets. ***

   Compared to last week, Slaughter lambs sold mostly 10.00-20.00
higher. Demand was moderate. Overall quality better than recent
weeks. Slaughter ewes sold mostly firm. Demand was moderate.
Slaughter supply consisted of 78 percent lambs, 18 percent
slaughter ewes and 4 percent slaughter bucks. All sheep and lambs
are destined for non-traditional markets. All sheep and lambs are
sold by the hundred weight, on actual weights.
    
   Slaughter Lambs: Non-Traditional Markets: Wooled & Shorn Choice and
Prime 2-3  50-80 lbs 190.00-212.00, hair sheep 190.00-210.00; 80-100
lbs hair sheep 178.00-198.00; 80-110 lbs 185.00-208.00; 110-130 lbs
184.00-186.00. Wooled and Shorn Choice and Prime 3-4 50-70 lbs 217.00-
246.00, hair sheep 216.00-220.00. Wooled and Shorn Good and Choice 1-3

   Slaughter Goats: When compared to last week, slaughter kids sold
mostly steady to 10.00 higher. Demand was moderate. Nannies traded
mostly 10.00-20.00 higher. Reported slaughter supply consisted of
64 percent Slaughter Kids, 18 percent Slaughter Nannies, and
18 percent bucks/billies and whethers. All Goats are sold by the
head on estimated weights.
         
    Slaughter Kids: Selection 1  40-60 lbs 130.00-185.00; 60-80 lbs
150.00-187.00; 80-100 lbs 177.00-205.00. Selection 2 40-60 lbs
100.00-130.00; 60-80 lbs 127.00-160.00; 80-100 lbs 150.00-180.00.
Selection 3 40-60 lbs 55.00-100.00; 60-80 lbs 80.00-125.00; 80-100
lbs 126.00-130.00.

    Slaughter Nannies/Does: Selection 1 100-130 lbs 170.00-187.00;
