Sheep and Goat Weighted Average for Monday, December 2, 2013

Sheep/Lamb Receipts: 1558   Last Monday: 1754   Year Ago: 1679

***Report format change: Traditional markets refer to lambs that
are subjected to USDA carcass grading, and marketed through
mainstream outlets. Non-Traditional markets refer to lambs
destined for slaughter outside of what would be termed as
traditional markets. ***

   Sheep and Lambs: Compared to last week, Slaughter lambs
sold 50.00-60.00 higher on a very light test. Demand was good
for the very limited supply. Slaughter ewes sold 40.00-50.00
higher on a very light test. Demand was good. Appears that
producers are learning that a shorter supply increases demand
and in turn increases value. Slaughter supply consisted of
70 percent lambs, 24 percent slaughter ewes, and 6 percent
miscellaneous stock. All sheep and lambs are destined for
non-traditional markets. All sheep and lambs are sold by the
hundred weight,on actual weights.

sheep 210.00-214.00; 60-80 lbs 212.00-222.00, hair sheep

215.00; 110-130 lbs 194.00-220.00. Wooled and Shorn Choice

   Slaughter Bucks: 110-150 lbs 100.00-110.00, lbs hair sheep

   Slaughter Goats: When compared to last week, slaughter kid
goats sold mostly 10.00-20.00 higher on a light test. Slaughter
Nanny goats sold mostly steady on a light test. Slaughter billies
sold mostly 10.00-20.00 lower on a light test. Demand was moderate
for all classes. Slaughter supply consisted of 60 percent Slaughter
Kids, 30 percent Slaughter Nannies, and 10 percent bucks/billies
and whethers. All Goats are sold by the head on estimated weights.
          
    Slaughter Kids: Selection 1  40-60 lbs 116.00-142.00; 60-80
lbs 132.00-167.00; 80-100 lbs 138.00-162.00. Selection 2 40-60
lbs 110.00-118.00; 60-80 lbs 115.00-135.00; 80-100 lbs 116.00-
140.00. Selection 3 40-60 lbs 52.00-100.00; 60-80 lbs 90.00-112.00;
80-100 lbs 86.00-90.00.

    Slaughter Nannies/Does: Selection 1 90-125 lbs 132.00-170.00;
130-150 lbs 150.00-154.00. Selection 2 70-80 lbs 110.00-114.00;
80-120 lbs 117.00-140.00. Selection 3 70-80 lbs 75.00-90.00;
