Compared to last week, slaughter steers sold mostly 3.00-4.00 lower.
There were a large number of heavy steers weighing over 1600 lbs on
offer today. These steers brought a 3.00-5.00 discount to lighter steers.
High dressing Lean Steers are steers sold primarily to the ethnic market
and most are extremely lean. Those steers sold mostly 2.00-3.00 lower on
a light test. Slaughter Holstein steers sold mostly 1.00-2.00 lower.
Slaughter heifers sold mostly 1.00-2.00 lower compared to a very light
test. Demand was good. Slaughter cows sold 1.00-2.00 higher compared to
a light test last week. Demand was good. Slaughter bulls sold mostly
steady to 1.00 higher compared to a very light test. Cattle supplies
included 319 steers; 73 heifers; 355 cows; 25 bulls; and 11 feeder calves.

Return to Farm Holstein Calves: Compared to last week, Holstein bull
calves sold mostly steady to 10.00 higher. Holstein heifer calves sold
mostly 10.00-20.00 higher. Demand was moderate. Buyer attendance was
good. Ag Market News LLC under the USDA-QSA-LMAR program graded 423 head
for Thursday's sale. All calves are sold by the cwt.
Graded Holstein Bull Calves: Number 1 120-128 lbs 217.00; 106-118 lbs
237.00-250.00; 94-104 lbs 265.00-277.00. Number 2 120-128 lbs 210.00;
94-118 lbs 242.00-257.00; 80-92 lbs 275.00-295.00. Number 3 100-130 lbs
220.00-240.00; 90-98 lbs 250.00-260.00; 72-88 lbs 275.00-285.00. Utility
