Compared to last Thursday's sale, Slaughter steers sold
mostly sharply higher on very light offerings. Demand was very good.
Holstein steers sold mostly 4.00 to 5.00 higher on a much higher
quality offering of steers compared to last week. Not enough comparable
sales last week to establish an accurate market trend for slaughter heifers.
Slaughter cows sold mostly 2.00 higher on very light offerings. Demand was
very good. Cattle supplies included 135 slaughter steers; 65 heifers; 269
cows; 25 bulls; and 0 feeder calves. All prices per cwt.
Slaughter Steers: High Choice and Prime 3-4 1265-1675 lbs
mostly 150.00-154.50. Choice 2-3 1315-1575 lbs 145.00-152.50.
Select 2-3 1300-1700 lbs few 137.00-148.50.
Slaughter Holsteins: High Choice and Prime 3-4 1390-1705
lbs mostly 132.00-138.00 few to 142.00, Choice 2-3 1250-1765 lbs
